During some instances of time some of us have to promote ourselves.
When is a promotion a shameless promotion or somekind of praising self or something which annoys the reader or recipient ?
One of the best ways to avoid this would be to not promote at all.But that defeats the purpose.
There are various kinds of promotions online and i would like to focus on the promotions which people do for their websites and blogs.
The most common of them is to send a email to contacts and ask them to visit,comment,share, it includes +1 so far it can be considered with just promotions and not shameless promotions.
but when it becomes multiple requests its as irritating as being begged.That is when shameless promotions takes shape.
This is the effect of some of the social networking websites or websites which are implemented with curl.
When a friend of mine visited my personnel website he held the opinion that it was full of self boasting and he opinioned that blog or website is something with which you start to praise your self.
blog or website is something with which you promote yourself either through your creations ( artwork, photos etc) or your writing skills.There are times when people feel the need to tell the world.
It was about 3 years ago when i had a very bitter experience with the highway patrol when a tipper lorry of mine had met with an accident.That was the first post on this blog and i had promoted it as i wanted everyone to know about it by having it as my gmail, and orkut status message and also pasted it in orkut communities when the link was pasted it had offended some and presence of adsense offended others who knew that adsense is a means to earn money.
Sometimes promotion or shameless promotion is required as in above instance i was into exposing the nexus between highway patrol and crane services in looting people who have met with an accident.
I am on a quest to find out how much of my promotions fall into shameless promotions.
I think its all about keeping the shameless promotion factor low or low enough to keep it away from being tagged as a spam blog.
Be it in writing a resume or a blog of yourself or something else you need to promote yourself else you have to pay someone to do that for you.But that would be like either you can command respect or you can demand respect.
