Celebrations which i witnesed on the streets of hyderabad was the best of the post win celebrations for any event that i have seen so far.
On the streets there were people dancing, singing, screaming, Shirtless, body painted and they were stopping the traffic, but wasn't violent but at most of these gatherings on the streets they were policemen, Like 2 policemen around about 200 people.
In my apartment on the floor below there was even fireworks and distribution of Pastries as a form of celebration.
I did not mention about the fireworks when i described about the streets, there was huge display of fireworks as in new year eve celebrations, and this went on till wee hours in the morning.
Based on the celebrations this victory has made every indian proud, it wasn't the Indian cricket team's victory alone but it was every indian's victory.
But what made this victory such a spectacular event, When Abhinav Bindra won the Gold medal in Olympics, or Karnam Malleshwari won the Bronze, or when .... it was never so much. But i recall after every India vs Pakistan match there is huge celebrations it is rather the war that is fought between the countries on the Cricket field and in this series it happened at the semi finals and that celebrations added as a catalyst to the finals which india was after 28 years and the final match was indeed a pulse racing one.
Today's Times of India describes M.S dhoni as the greatest captain of indian cricket team.Lots more like Rs2 crore from Sheila Dikshit to M.S dhoni and a few of them , this is amongst various other offers Including a stripitease by a model in cricket team's dressing room.
