Solar valleys - A suggestion by Manmohan singh.

Solar valleys across the country and suggests private investors to

consider National Solar misson as a business opportunity.

Solar initiatives may not work well as a business idea so far as they
cost multi fold , very slow .
Solar Lanterns were not economic , while solar cookers were not reliable
Solar heaters did not serve at night and so on, above all these often needed
a backup so that requirements are not disrupted.
Repairs of these equipments are expensive, Initial cost of these are prohibitively high.

"While India’s solar power generation potential, with 300 clear sunny days every year, is one of the highest in the world, its capacity to generate solar power stands at as low as 3 Mw at present, in spite of an overall 150,000 Mw of installed power generation capacity. This is primarily owing to high cost — over Rs 12 crore per Mw — of setting up solar power plants, in contrast to the Rs 5-6 crore per Mw cost of setting up thermal power capacity."




Let us see what is it that the governement offers in the coming years although there are Targets of 20,000 Mw by 2022 which is by  the 13th 5-year plan.Present production of 3 Mw from a installation capacity of 150,000 Mw.
